The next Manual Handling Course will be held in the Quality Hotel Clonakilty on Thursday August 01st  It is a half day certified course commencing at 9.30am Cost is €50.00 per person

An important meeting is to be held in the West Cork Hotel Skibbereen on Monday May 20th at 8.30pm

The public meeting is being held by the West Cork Alliance to highlight and discuss the  proposed changes to structures in West Cork Development Partnership, West Cork Rural Transport, Bantry Hospital and possible changes to Social Welfare payments through the local Post Offices. There is also a proposal to ‘align’ many services to the Local Authority not only in West Cork but throughout Ireland. The concern is that ‘align’ may mean ‘taking over’

These issues will be discussed in an open forum and everybody is invited to attend. All public representatives as well as stakeholders have been invited to attend as well.

Due to the leaked document that was distributed recently this has caused a lot of unnecessary concern among the people who use and depend on Rural Transport Services.

As it was a draft document nothing has been confirmed at this point. Should the situation change West Cork Rural Transport will be informing all the people associated in any way with Rural Transport in West Cork and formulating a plan of action should the need arise.

For the moment however all services remain the same and it is very much ‘business as usual’

An exciting event is being specially organised on Sunday November 25th at 2.00pm in Wolfe Tone Park Bantry all in aid of Cancer Connect.

The Cork All Ireland Ladies Football Champions have kindly agreed to take on a West Cork Selection in Bantry. The West Cork Selection are already in training for the event under the management of Graham Canty

Please come along to what promises to be an entertaining football match and helping a worthy cause by being there.

Over three hundred people attended the 10th anniversary social and get together at the Parkway Hotel on Wednesday October 31st.

Thanks to everybody for attending and to all the people who helped in any way either by bringing spot prizes, baking or helping on the day. Thanks also to the people who sponsored prizes.

A great day was had by all!

Brian Crowley MEP will be in attendance at our 10th Anniversary Celebrations in Dunmanway on Wednesday next October 31st. Brian has been a great supporter of West Cork Rural Transport down through the years. He was on hand in 2007 to launch the extension of services and we are delighted to welcome him back again this time. He is expected at around 5.00pm

Again all people associated with West Cork Rural Transport are very welcome to come along for some or all of the afternoon. There is no admission charge.

The 2013 photographic calendar with wonderful photos of West Cork is now on sale for €10.00 The calendar is produced by Bantry Active Retirement Association (BARA) and it will make for a nice stocking filler for Christmas. All proceeds go to Cancer Connect. Our thanks to BARA for their efforts

West Cork Rural Transport is ten years in operation this year and we will be celebrating the event at our annual get together in October. This year it will be held in Dunmanway again on Wednesday October 31st. So come along to our afternoon, renew old Acquaintances and celebrate our 10th birthday!!!
